In 2010, Kafelaku Coffee first brought one of the most coveted coffee bean varieties, Kopi Luwak, to China.
Few Chinese customers had ever tasted the unique flavor of the Indonesian-originated coffee before. By 2014, there were 100 Kafelaku cafes and retail stores across southern China.
But this was just the beginning of what the company envisioned for its domestic growth. In early 2015, Kafelaku and ToJoy formed a strategic partnership. Since then, ToJoy has attracted investors and operating partners for Kafelaku. The company has received over $30 million USD in investment. As of September 2018, the company has added 500 new stores to its map and is planning an IPO in Hong Kong during 2019. Its valuation now exceeds $200 million USD.
